It seems having a Cuban themed eatery is a hallmark of any cosmopolitan city and Accra has been somewhat of a slow adopter. When it comes to culinary variety (or the lack thereof) perhaps it's the similarity of Caribbean/south american fare that makes it non-exotic or Ghanaians's less than adventurous palates in general, perhaps it's our penchant for spicy food and carbohydrate laden meals etc, but all this seems to be changing, possibly as a result of a significantly expanded expat/repat community or perhaps just plain old globalisation.

The racism that is Game of Thrones
Started this in 2013, and I promise to finish before GOT is done
Watch this space
Many a blogger (and fully fledged author) have written ad nauseum about the subtle and not so sublte racist underpinnings of GOT, and while I am an avid fan, I am not blind to these slights and would like to briefly touch on them here.
In summary, there are more people of colour in Peaky Blinders than GOT.

Wise Words
I'm sure you've heard the saying: "You know you don't have to take this...you don't have to be here. You have a home." Well at times like this, such tough love anecdotes seem to be extra poignant. My personal favourite is, a spin on the good old "I can do bad all by myself" is: I can do good..no great by myself, I'm trying to do amazing with you. If only I had a sassy 'girlfriend' to remind me of this periodically...introspection gets old...and is limited by the fact that you yourself are messed up when u need to be the most straight... yourself.
In lieu of a blood and bones alter ego..i'm going to blog.

Elysium
One of those movies that gets lost in the midst of a bunch
of other movies. Poor planning? Bad luck? Doesn’t matter. I’m sure a lot of
people watched it and their enjoyment wasn’t held down by Gravity or Carrie. As
with all standard sci-fi dystopian dramas, Elysium’s scriptwriters followed the
handbook like star pupils.

Tresence- Cafe l Gelateria
Tresence enters the ring as a newbie with a lot going for
them. First of all, location, location, location. Situated on the 5th Floor of the
newly opened Osu Mall, tresence is not just in the trendiest part of town, it’s
in soon-to-be landmark building. Now, I won’t go into the pros and cons and
predictions of the failure or success of having a mall on the busiest road in
the city, but let’s just say, for now, it works. The building is at most,
halfway done. The parking is nothing to write home about and truthfully,
there’s really not much to see/do right now aside from Shoprite.
